                            Milling

Clayton Equipment Company offers a full range of mills for your nano dispersion needs.

Microprocessor ControllerMilling

Mills reduce materials to a desired particle or aggregate size.

State-of-the-art micro processor and network communications control the milling process.

Mills are available in sizes ranging from lab scale to full production.

General Purpose MillGeneral Purpose Mills

Discrete pass operation with medium to large media size.

An efficienct, dependable mill with long service life. It is a workhorse designed for various production rates and ease of operation when basic particle sizes are required.

Advance MillAdvanced Mills

Small media size and high-flow recirculation or discrete pass operation.

This mill offers the highest degree of efficiency, dependability, versatility, easy maintenance and clean-up, and long service life. It is designed for various production rates and ease of operation when uniform fine dispersion is required.

Motor sizes range from 5 HP to 100HP and 100% Gross Shell Volume ranges from 0.86 to 253.0 liters.

Super MillSuper Mills

High energy/high flow for low viscosity, low density dispersions for fine particle sizes.

The Supermill is designed for ultrafine particle size (submicron) with narrow particle size distribution. Its High Flow/High Energy Recirculation process is based on a new grinding configuration unlike those in other conventional disc or peg type media mills.

A specific orientation of grinding components creates a unique, multi-directional acceleration of grinding media. A highly aggressive flow pattern of the product/media mix is achieved, resulting in a significant increase in the maximum shear level compared to conventional disc or pin arrangements. It is an ideal unit for many diverse industries including Paint, Ink and Coatings, Ceramics, Agricultural, Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Personal Care.

Mill sizes range from 1 to 60 liters producing batches up to 1,000 gallons.

Submersible MillSubmersible Mills

Perfect for small batches where frequent color changeover is needed. Easy to clean, eliminates pumps, hoses, product plumbing and mechanical seals. The Submersible Basket and Disperser Blades are on independent shafts with separate variable speed drive.

Best of all, this exceptional level of efficiency is achieved without pipes, pumps or material transfer. The simplicity of the Submersible Mill system allows for very high material yields from batch to batch, as high as 99%. This means less clean-up and a reduction in waste solvents. Premixing, dispersion, compounding and dilution are all accomplished in a single unit that requires less space, less time and less energy to achieve bigger results.

Submersible MillThe Submersible Mill design insures that materials pass through the high density dispersion zone within the milling chamber at a high frequency. It offers a high degree of dispersion which can be many times more efficient than traditional media milling systems.

    Benefits
  • Milling chamber design eliminates by-passing and inconsistent dispersion.
  • Separate variable speed drives provide exceptional flexibility in mixing and dispersion.
  • Because material flow is created by vortex action and centrifugal force, media overflow into the batch is eliminated.
  • Impellers provide even circulation, ensure uniform dispersion, and allow a wider range of processing viscosities.
  • Impellers are mounted on independent shafts and feature a separate variable speed drive.
  • Operating speeds may be controlled manually or through an automated process controller.
  • Side walls and bottom of the processing tank are jacketed along with the top of the milling chamber for efficient control of product temperature.
  • Portable tank with non-sparking casters provides mobility for packaging or cleaning.
  • Clean-up and product changeover are accomplished in less than 30 minutes on most products.
